CG offers 120Mbps broadband internet for less than Rs. 999 per month, with the catchphrase “Speed That Matters.”. The price is Rs. 999 for 120Mbps? This sounds almost impossible because we have become so accustomed to low bandwidths.
In any case, internet access is currently only available in selected areas of Kathmandu. In this article, we’ll examine their prices, packages, and FUP.
The Telecommunication Sector is of great interest to CG
Already, CG NET looks impressive, and there’s no doubt we’ve seen CG invest heavily in this sector. This article discusses in detail exactly how and why NTA has declined to issue CG a unified license despite both intent and investment.
Their entry into the ISP market has shown strong intent, despite their inability to enter the telecommunications sector.

With the lowest price ever, fast unlimited internet is waiting for you.
1.81% of the Nepalese PCI (Per Capita Income) was estimated to be spent on voice and data services in the ITU’s 2019/20 report. Second only to Afghanistan in terms of cost in South Asia. It was no wonder Binod Chaudhary’s offer of free voice calls and half-priced data created a storm.
Since the company failed to obtain a unified license from the government, it is now focusing on cable internet. The purpose of this post is to outline the internet plans, prices, and availability of fiber connections from CG Net.
Internet Service Plans from CG Fiber
In an effort to up their game in the communications sector, CG has launched a mobile network, but they have been unable to get a unified license so as to offer both GSM and CDMA services in one network. Their fiber internet service, CG NET, has been launched instead.
This introductory offer comes at a cost of Rs. 999/month for 120Mbps.

Isn’t it unbelievable that a speed this good can be found at such a low price? The fastest Worldlink bandwidth option is 80 Mbps, which costs Rs. 22,000 per year. At least on paper, it is quite evident that CG’s Internet package far outranks those from other ISPs.
In the years to come, CG may be able to dominate the entire internet scene in Nepal.
A fiber-based internet connection is currently available only through CG. You won’t get both television and internet packages. The company hopes to launch IPTV and several other services in the near future as well.
Coverage Area of CG NET
There is currently only limited availability of CG NET in Jawalakhel, Jhamsikhel, and Ekantakuna. The Kathmandu valley will soon be covered by CG NET in every nook and cranny.
As well, customer service centers will be available in Nayabazar, Jawlakhel, Kumaripati, and Kritipur.
Policy on Fair Use of CG NET
Currently, households are experiencing a massive increase in bandwidth consumption due to a growing number of concurrent users. Additionally, this has caused a number of issues with FUP. Where does CG NET rank in terms of its FPU level? Please take a look at it.
FUP Level | Data Usage Quota | FUP Speed Policy |
Original Data Bandwidth | Data Consumption to 1900 GB | 120 MBPS Original Speed |
Level 1 | Data Consumption 1900-2000 GB | 50% of original |
Level 2 | Data Consumption2000-2100 GB | 30% of original |
Level 3 | Data Consumption More than 2100 GB | 10% of original |
All ISPs in Nepal have a lower threshold for FUP than CG NET. In order to calculate the data usage, both the download and upload data used every month are added together. The data usage limit is 1900GB per month, which is more than flexible.
The following plans are available from CG NET:
CG NET is one of the 112 companies that make up CG Communications Limited. CG NET has been advertising “speed that matters,” promising consumers fast internet at affordable rates, and now it’s here. Home-based plans are now available for purchase.
As part of its promise to provide fast internet, CG NETis offering 120Mbps plans to its customers – which are the fastest plans available for residential users in Nepal. Until now, Vianet and Classic Tech held a joint lead with their 100Mbps plans. The table below compares CG NET‘s 120Mbps plan with other ISPs’ plans with higher bandwidth.

One-time fee
In addition to offering 120Mbps, CG NET provides flexibility to subscribe to monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual plans. This is not available from the two other ISPs’ premium packages.
I would like to discuss the price of one-time installation as well.

All of CG NETs plans are free of installation and drop wire charges, but you will need to purchase routers separately. The yearly plan does not include an additional charge for a dual-band router. Worldlink currently offers 5GHz access for free, while Vianet charges 3,100 NPR for the 5GHz add-on.

Fair Use Policy (FUP) details have also been provided by CG Net in a transparent manner.

Controversy surrounding CG-NTA
CG Telecom’s unified license has been declined by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority since the company has not completed all legal procedures. The license fee is the problem here. NTA is asking CG Telecom for NPR 20 billion up front to secure the license. billion NPR upfront. The latter, however, wishes to pay in installments, claiming that the Doorsanchaar Ain allows it.
It doesn’t matter how much controversy surrounds it, CG Telecom has already invested heavily in the sector. A rural telecom operator was acquired by the company in 2013. They have partnered with companies like Huawei and Life Cell (Turkey). As a result, it has received comparisons to Jio, the provider of free voice service and internet data in India.
Do you think CG will succeed in the Internet service provider market with CG NET? When it becomes available in your area, will you switch to it?
